All the right nutrients in the right amounts

SMA Gold Prem* is specially formulated to contain the extra protein, energy and other nutrients bottle-fed preterm babies need to grow and thrive.

  • Carbohydrates
  • Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs)
  • Protein
  • Calcium and Phosphorus

Carbohydrate blend

  • SMA Gold Prem is low in lactose (50% of total carbohydrate) – easier to digest.1,2
  • 50% of total carbohydrate as maltodextrin – does not impair mineral absorption.3
  • Higher percentage of maltodextrin reduces osmolality and may lower associated risk of necrotizing enterocolitis.1

Long-Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (LCPs)

  • SMA Gold Prem contains appropriate levels of LCPs that are well tolerated by preterm infants.4
  • LCPs from a pure vegetable source.

Protein

  • SMA Gold Prem has a whey:casein ratio of 60:40
  • Contains 2.7 g of protein per 100 kcal – appropriate for catch-up growth in preterm infants.1
  • Increased protein - beneficial for bone mineralisation.5

Calcium and Phosphorus

  • SMA Gold Prem has increased calcium and phosphorus levels clinically proven to increase bone mineralisation.5
  • Low dietary mineral intake is recognised as a risk factor in metabolic bone disease.5
