Benefits of SMA LF*

Comforting for colic

The causes of infant colic are unclear but one current theory suggests that it may be triggered by transient lactose intolerance which could be a reflection of an infant’s immature digestive system.¹

If colic is suspected, the NHS Prodigy recommends excluding common causes of excessive crying, reassuring parents and considering sequential trials of eliminating lactose.

SMA LF – No need for bottle-fed babies to wait

Although several studies have shown that the use of lactase drops can help reduce the symptoms of colic and transient lactose intolerance, they require prior incubation to be effective.²

SMA LF which is clinically lactose free can be made up like regular SMA formula, therefore reducing the inconvenience for both the parent and bottle fed infant of having to wait.

And because SMA LF is whey based, it helps to minimise feeding disruption.
