The benefits of SMA Progress*

Just right to complement weaning

Greater awareness of the nutritional benefits of follow-on milk, as part of a varied weaning diet, has led to its increasingly wide adoption by parents:

SMA Progress* is a follow-on milk that contains more iron, zinc and vitamin D than typical infant formula. This is to fuel the infants nutritional requirements during this rapid growth phase.

Follow-on formulae like Progress provide key nutrients at this crucial stage, when the nutritional intake from solids often varies on a daily basis.

The Department of Health recommendations 1

6-12 months 12 months +
To drink: 500-600 ml / day (breast milk, infant milk or follow-on milk). Also use any of the above milks to mix into weaning foods To drink: Minimum 350 ml per day or 2 servings dairy product, plus any milk to mix into foods

More nutritionally suitable than cows’ milk

Many parents still introduce cows’ milk as their infant’s main drink before the recommended age of 12 months.

Although it is acceptable to use cows’ milk in small quantities in weaning foods, the Department of Health does not recommend it as a main drink before 12 months of age because it is too low in iron, and vitamins C and D.1

SMA Progress contains higher levels of iron and vitamins C and D than cows’ milk to ensure that infants get enough of these important nutrients.2
