About SMA

When it comes to feeding a newborn, breast is best. As experts in infant nutrition, with 90 years of expertise on feeding babies, nobody understands this better than us.

At SMA we’re great advocates of breastfeeding. Through our new SMA know-how programme we’re actively supporting new mums with practical videos, helpsheets and advice to help them breastfeed with confidence.

We also understand that breastfeeding doesn’t work out for everyone. Which is why we’ve spent 90 years developing infant formulas to make them as close as possible to breast milk. So we can support those mums who can’t or choose not to breastfeed too. Today, more parents in the UK and the Republic of Ireland choose to use SMA products for their infants.

Supporting new parents and supplying a range of infant formulas are just part of what we do. We are also dedicated to research and development, and work closely with professional organisations to support healthcare professionals too.

History

For 90 years, SMA Nutrition’s range of infant milks has grown and developed, and during that time, SMA has been at the forefront of leading advancements. Take a look at our history timeline to find out about our many breakthroughs and how we got to where we are today.
