Research

Here we review the research that supports the benefits of enriching an infant formula with alpha-lactalbumin (α-protein) and LCPs.

There is also evidence on helping to prevent iron deficiency together with the latest thinking on The Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC).

Alpha-protein

Alpha-protein is the main whey protein found in human milk. It is rich in essential amino acids, especially tryptophan and cysteine. Clinical evidence on α-protein and other milk proteins is summarised in this section.

LCPs

Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs) are important components of cell membranes and play a key role in the development of the brain, eye, and nervous system.

Iron

Iron is an essential component of the oxygen-carrying protein, haemoglobin and myoglobin, and of many enzymes. Iron is obtained from the diet and must be consumed in adequate quantities to meet the body’s needs.
