Preparing the feed
Whilst this product is made under strict hygienic conditions, it is not sterile. Failure to follow instructions on preparation and storage may make your baby ill.
Preparing powder 900 g format ONLY:

1. Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
2. Boil kettle filled with fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes before measuring the required amount of water (see feeding guide) into the sterilised bottle, carefully - the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened water or repeatedly boiled water.
3. Using the scoop provided in the can, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide), levelling off each scoop with the handy built-in leveller in the can. Replace plastic lid on can.
4. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake well. Cool bottle under cold running water until lukewarm. Test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist

Preparing powder format 450 g:

1. Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.

3. Using the scoop provided in the can, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide), levelling off each scoop with the back of a clean dry knife. Replace plastic lid on can.
4. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake well. Cool bottle under cold running water until lukewarm. Test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist.

Preparing liquid formats:

1. Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions.
2. Ensure top of carton and scissors are clean. Shake carton well, snip open and pour into sterilised bottle. Add sterilised teat and cap
3. SMA Extra-Hungry Infant Milk can be fed at room temperature. If required to heat, stand filled bottle in warm water.
4. Before feeding shake the bottle well. If warmed, test temperature by shaking a few drops onto the inside of your wrist - milk should be lukewarm.
