The first 1,000 days of a baby’s life have a life-long impact on many aspects of future health.

As babies start to receive complementary food at around 6 months, it’s important they continue to receive good quality protein at an appropriate level. National dietary surveys show that in infants over 6 months, average daily protein intake exceeds recommendations and intakes of iron and vitamin D may be sub-optimal.5,6

Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids support normal development and growth.* Omega 3,    α-linolenic acid, and omega 6, linoleic acid, are essential fatty acids because they cannot be synthesised in the body, therefore they need to be obtained through the diet.

SMA® ORGANIC Follow-on Milk also contains omega 3 LCP (DHA). This is to help ensure that infants aren’t missing out on these important nutrients. Although LCPs can be made in the body, infants have a high demand for these nutrients and can benefit from an additional source.

Omega 3 LCP (DHA) support brain and eye development.4

*The beneficial effect of essential fatty acids is obtained with a daily intake of 10 g of linoleic acid and 2 g of α-linolenic acid

DHA, docosahexaenoic acid

LCPs, long-chain polyunsaturates

LRNI, lower reference nutrient intake
